Job Description

THE COMPANY AND SITUATION:

One of the biggest names in the world of professional services is seeking applications at Senior Manager level for their Risk Management team focussing on the Retail Banking sector. This highly successful practice provides opportunities for staff to work at the heart of the industry’s response to the credit crunch.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

The following experience and attributes are essential in order to be eligible for this role:

• Educated to degree level
• Previous commercial experience working in the Risk area of a Financial Services Firm or Financial Services Regulatory body
• Commercial experience of Risk Management including credit risk, operational risk, liquidity risk, wider risk governance and stress testing
• Experience of Financial Modelling sufficient to conduct model audit, review, analysis and to “challenge” existing models
• Strong communication skills: Absolutely vital here is both relevant experience AND the kind of personality compatible with consulting!
• Experience in leading and developing proposals
• Team leading and engagement management
• Business Development abilities: Winning new business through marketing and sales activities, turning leads into contracts won

Please note the above experience is essential: You require all of the above to be eligible for this role. Desirable, but not essential, is a post-graduate qualification

THE ROLE:

This team’s work revolves mainly around mortgage portfolios, but covers all aspects of Retail Banking. Your tasks in this role would include, but are not limited to: Delivery of client engagements as part of a project team on client sites, provide technical input into projects, cultivate client relationships, reporting, mentoring and developing staff.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

So why work here? For starters, how about job security! Despite the oft-cited current economic climate, this division is growing and wants to double in size over the next three years! There is most certainly the “head room” to grow here; no glass-ceiling, they need more partners in this team over the next three years - will it be you? The aim here is always to develop long-term relationships with clients, so consultants tend to get to know clients very well. Expand your skills set here – this is a very collegiate, focussed environment, very much a ‘people firm’, where you can learn and grow. Projects tend to be larger and more strategic than niche competitors. Clients are long-term but engagements tend to be relatively short, so although there is travel with this role, you won’t be stuck away from home for months at a time.
