Job Description

THE COMPANY AND SITUATION:

A leading international provider of critical support services for public authorities and corporate organisations is seeking an experienced facilities manager (soft FM) to provide and manage Housekeeping and Cleaning Services at a hospital in Middlesex. These services are being provided on a supplier-to-client basis: Rather than being an employee of the hospital itself, you would be an employee of the company that has won the contract to supply these services and the hospital would be your client. As a result of this, we need someone who is experienced in meeting contractual requirements in this kind of situation.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

The experience required for this role is as follows:

• At least 10 years experience in the MANAGEMENT of Soft Facilities Management Services including Housekeeping & Cleaning
• At least 5 years of this must have been spent in the healthcare sector (NHS as opposed to private healthcare)
• Strong, dynamic personality, an “enforcer” who can makes things happen
• Commercially and financially astute, knows the Soft FM market, understands the NHS

Please note the above criteria are essential, you require all of the above in order to be eligible for this role.

THE ROLE:

In this role you will have a number of internal and external liaisons including, but not limited to, Senior Managers, Helpdesk Team, Portering staff, Medical staff and the general public. The crux of the role is to both provide and manage the Housekeeping and Cleaning Services ensuring that standards meet contractual requirements and service provision is in line with both company and NHS policy.

THE OPPORTUNITY AND PROSPECTS:

There are a number of attractions here. Firstly, this is the first year of a contract of at least five years, so this is a relatively low-risk option in these days of poor job security and commonplace redundancy! As for the next step career-wise for this person, there are several areas open to you including compliance, audit or a more senior management post in either this contract or others in healthcare or education. A longer-term opportunity associated with this role is to eventually move up to the position of Head of Hotel Services for this sector.
