Job Description

THE COMPANY AND SITUATION:

The Healthcare Consultancy practice of one of the top accountancy firms in the UK is currently experiencing an unprecedented demand for its services. Consequently, they now need qualified accountants with experience of either working for, or consulting to, the NHS.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

The following skills and attributes are essential in order to be eligible for this role:

EITHER:

A minimum of 2 years commercial experience working in accountancy or finance in the NHS, for example as a management accountant

OR:

A minimum of 2 years commercial experience working in an advisory capacity for a consulting firm with the NHS as your client

In both of the above scenarios, the preferred experience is of Acute Trusts or Primary Care Trusts (PCTs)

PLUS:

• A degree
• An accountancy qualification. Fully-qualified accountants are preferred, but final-stage part-qualified accountants WILL be considered for interview.
• An understanding of the “NHS Language” and able to speak it with NHS employees
• Flexibility: A “can do, will do” attitude regarding location and nature of work

THE ROLE:

The crux of the work here would be on client sites evaluating efficiency issues and procurement issues. Additionally there would some background research and proposal writing, bid preparation and delivering services to PCTs.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

If you are currently working for the NHS, this is a far more varied situation – different roles, different clients. If you are currently already in an advisory firm, this is an opportunity to develop your career with one of the largest consultancy firms in the UK, that currently has a specific focus on healthcare and is looking to develop people internally.

The next step here career-wise is to move up to Assistant Director level and in the longer term, Partner. This is a busy and growing part of the firm at present and there is no reason why a competent person would not make Partner, develop their career in the long-term and develop their own business.
