THE COMPANY AND SITUATION OVERVIEW:

One of the biggest names in the world of professional services has launched a brand new modelling team producing a unique service offering for which there is currently no equivalent in existence. This consists of advisory services relating to Credit Portfolio Modelling for the financial sector, truly a Greenfield situation! They now require someone with extensive commercial C++, SQL and RDB experience to maintain a large database of market data and derived data. This is a database-orientated job that additionally requires strong C++ skills.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

The following experience and attributes are essential for this role:
• An Honours degree in a mathematical subject, i.e. mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, physics or engineering
• A minimum of 4 years of full-time, commercial experience in C++ including all of STL, CRT in C, DLL and XLL
• A minimum of 4 years of full-time, commercial experience in SQL with either SQL Server, Oracle or Sybase
• Experience in ODBC, OCI, JDBC or other API
• Experience in SQL Script language such as Transact SQL, PL/SQL or embedded Java
• Experience in shell scripts or MS-DOS bat scripts

Please note the above experience is essential: You require all of the above to be eligible for this role.

Desirable, but not essential, are any of the following:

• Experience in application development in VBA for Excel
• A qualification or experience in statistics

THE ROLE:
The role is essentially 60% maintenance (bug fixing, diagnosis, improvements) and 40% development, including joint development with Quants. You will be reporting to an I.T./Quant Manager and working with a small team of Quants, so if your background is at all Quantitative, you’ll fit in here very well! Your tasks will include, but not be limited to: Application development in conjunction with the Quant team to produce and store derived data, develop new methods for cleansing market data, maintaining & improving database performance and interfacing & communicating with DBAs in the I.T. team,
