Job Description

THE COMPANY AND SITUATION

The world leader in the provision of software solutions to the Music and Entertainment industry is seeking Junior Delphi Developers. The working environment here is very pleasant with a casual dress code, a laid back and friendly atmosphere but also hard-working and dynamic with the autonomy to drive your job role forward. Prospects are to be trained in C#.

THE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Do you have only a few months, or maybe a year of commercial Delphi experience?
• Have you just graduated and did Delphi only at University?
• Are you an established programmer but have been learning Delphi in your spare time?

If the answer to any of the above is “yes” then great, you’re eligible, send us your CV! This company is simply seeking junior Delphi developers who are keen to learn and are adaptable, flexible, team players.

And that’s it! We just want good Delphi people (although if you happen to have any ColdFusion or C# experience in addition to your Deplhi, they’ll absolutely love you!).

If you happen to be an absolute guru in Turbo Pascal then still talk to us, I’m sure we could convince them, they’re open-minded (that’s TURBO Pascal, Delphi’s predecessor, not Pascal)!

THE OPPORTUNITY AND PROSPECTS:

Join here on the basis of your Delphi skills and you’ll eventually end up on C#. Cross-training in to C# is a matter of when, not if (although you can remain on Delphi if you prefer!). This is one of the few companies where you DON’T have to change employers to change skills!

We need people who are amenable to carrying out pure development initially, however prospects here are fantastic: All the current managers there started off as developers. Some are running their own products, others are in technical management, others now deal with company clients. Here, you will have enough autonomy to define your own role. Therefore, if you take the initiative you can shape your role for the future and drive your own progression. (One point on the C# though – you will be doing Delphi in the short to medium term, so we need those who are happy performing Delphi development, not those who are simply “putting up” with programming in Delphi while they wait to get trained in C#! This is a DELPHI development role!)

This company caters for all personality types though – you don’t HAVE to be an ambitious go-getter. If you’re not keen on progressing to a client-facing situation and would rather just stay and develop, that is also fine by them. They need full-on software developers!

Overall, this is a lovely place to work – it’s a privately-owned company and feels more like a family company, not at all institutionalised - everyone has a stake, everyone has a say. Being music, entertainment and film it’s an interesting industry to work in too. You’ll be involved in different technologies across the board from front office to back office. The large number of people I have placed here who are still there years later are testament to this!
