Job Description

THE COMPANY AND SITUATION:

The world leader in the provision of software solutions to the Music and Entertainment industry requires a Client Project Account Manager to act as the liaison between the company and their clients. The main purpose of the role is to manage the delivery and implementation of software, development and consultancy to clients in the Music, Film and TV industry. Please note this is a NON-TECHNICAL role, we are seeking a non-technical person as the focus here is on Project Management, Communication and Presentation skills. This is about people skills, not technical ability.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

The experience required for this role is as follows:

• At least two years of post-graduate experience in the project management of software implementations, or the project management of delivering software projects
• This experience must have been gained working for a consultancy or software house managing implementations in end-user clients, NOT internally for your own employer
• At least two years of experience in people management
• Amenable to managing a large number of projects at once. This position is about managing high-volume, smaller value projects at once, rather than managing one large project at a time

Please note the above experience is essential, you require all of the above to be eligible for this role. Our ideal profile of candidate would be someone who joined a consultancy or software house on their graduate trainee scheme and has since gained two years of software project management experience. If your project management experience lies in BPR or Change Management, that’s fine too.

WHAT WE DON’T WANT:

Please be aware that the following skill profiles are NOT suitable:

• I.T. Technical staff. We are seeking NON-technical people. This role is about management and people skills
• I.T. Technical Support/Helpdesk staff who have installed Exchange Server or performed a Network roll-out and deem that “project managing software implementations”. We are seeking non-technical staff
• Those who have progressed to their current project management position from a background in software development. We are seeking non-technical staff
• Those who are used to managing one large project at a time. This is about managing around 30 smaller projects at once
• Managing internal projects for your own employer. Your experience must have been gained WITH a consultancy/software house FOR third-party, external, end-user clients
• Office managers, office co-ordinators or administrative managers: You need experience in I.T. project management
• Those whose Project Management experience has been non-I.T., for example construction project management. The requirement is for I.T. project management experience

THE ROLE:

In this role you would essentially be the liaison between the company and approximately 30 of their clients. You would also have subordinate consultants who perform a similar function reporting to you. You would be monitoring around 30 projects at any one time, and would be required to report accurately on all 30 at any moment, to address what needs to be actioned, so this is not conventional or “pure” project management; this is resource management and task management. Communication skills and client management abilities are the most important thing here.

Your tasks and responsibilities will include managing and delivering implementations and special projects; acting as the primary contact for all clients with open projects; managing the time of non-development resources; identifying development requirements and scheduling them with the resource manager accordingly.

If you desire a lot of variety in your work, this is the role for you!

THE OPPORTUNITY/PROSPECTS:

This is a brand new position and you would be the only person in the company in this role. The career prospects are to move up from this position to become the first Head of Professional Services or Head of Client Services.
