Job Description

The world leader in the provision of software solutions to the Music and Entertainment industry is currently experiencing a phenomenal demand for their product. As fast as they can develop it, they can sell it, hence their need for more Java Developers.

The working environment here is very pleasant with a casual dress code, laid back and friendly atmosphere but also hard-working and dynamic with the autonomy to drive your job role forward.

This is predominantly a development role, but you will be involved in the full product lifecycle including design and client-facing duties, so they need a good all-rounder.

The experience required for this role is as follows:

• Two to five years experience in the development of web applications for the J2EE development platform.
• Two to five years experience in Java (can include academic experience)
• Strong knowledge in all of JSP, Servlet, JDBC, JavaScript, SQL and HTML technologies.
• Good knowledge of CSS and DHTML
• A personality suited to client-facing situations - good communication skills.
• A good standard of written English

The above experience is essential. You require all of the above experience in order for to be eligible for this role. The following experience is desirable, though not essential:

• XML
• Knowledge of the Websphere development environment and application server.
• Knowledge of and experience with AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript XML)
• Experience with CVS (code repository)
• Experience with IBM DB2.

This is one of the few companies where you DON\'T have to change employers to change skills! Consequently, they are looking for people who will stay put, rather than those who feel they have to change employers every two years to progress. They\'d rather you stayed but changed roles internally with them every two years instead.

Why work here? Well, this is a web-based product, so you’ll gain exposure to different technologies. There is a wide range of very interesting clients (music, film, TV) both local and foreign. Plenty of cross-training to new technologies. The prospects here are fantastic: All the current managers started off as developers. Some are running their own products, others are in technical management. Here, you will have enough autonomy to define your own role. Therefore, if you take the initiative you can shape your role for the future and drive your own progression.

Overall, this is a lovely place to work - it\'s a privately-owned company and feels more like a family company, not at all institutionalised - everyone has a stake, everyone has a say. Being music, entertainment and film it\'s an interesting industry to work in too. You\'ll be involved in different technologies across the board from front office to back office. The large number of people I have placed here who are still there years later are testament to this!
