Temporary Counter Staff

We are currently seeking temporary counter staff to provide cover for our head office in Vauxhall, London. Working directly with Big Issue vendors, this is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop your skills in an interesting environment where you can make a real difference to people’s lives.
As part of The Big Issue’s Sales Support team, you will be the first point of contact for our vendors and prospective vendors. You will have the chance be part of our social initiative that helps people to help themselves and will be responsible for selling the magazine, handling &reconciling cash and stock control of the magazines.
Working on the front desk in a small but very busy team, you will need to be resilient, have excellent communication skills and the ability to cope with challenging and lively situations. You must also be proficient in Word, Excel & Outlook, have strong attention to detail, a sense of humour and accuracy in record keeping & cash handling.
Previous experience in cash handling and an understanding of the practical and emotional needs of homeless people are an advantage. You must also be willing to undertake an enhanced CRB disclosure and a commitment to the social objectives of The Big Issue is essential. .
