Job Description

Ref: BI/SDWC
SALES DEVELOPMENT WORKER
Cambridge
17.5 hours per week incl Saturdays
Salary on application

We seek an adaptable and responsible individual to work part-time in our Cambridge office, including Saturdays, to provide an efficient and friendly outreach and sales support to our vendors, enabling them to maximise their magazine sales and access required services.

You will be actively recruiting new vendors, administering pitches and promoting good relations with the general public, including ensuring the vendor Code of Conduct is adhered to and responding to complaints. You will liaise with local councils, police, homeless organisations and other relevant local bodies, to build relationships and develop selling opportunities for vendors. You will be providing outreach to homeless people encountered on the street, promoting the services of TBI and TBI Foundation, and looking for opportunities to develop existing and new services for vendors. When in the office, you will undertake all cashier work in an accurate and efficient manner, in-line with all cash and paper handling procedures.

You must have experience of cash-handling, keeping accurate records, be a competent user of Excel, Word and email and be able to work using your own initiative. You will need good attention to detail as well as excellent organisational and administrative skills. Good communication skills and the ability to act with discretion are also essential. Experience of working within the homelessness sector would be an advantage, as would be a clean driving license. A commitment to the social objectives of The Big Issue is essential.
