Job Description

THE COMPANY AND SITUATION:

A leading international provider of critical support services for public authorities and corporate organisations is seeking an experienced facilities manager to provide and manage Housekeeping, Cleaning and Portering services at two hospitals in East London. In this role you would essentially be a deputy to the existing Contract Manager.

These services are being provided on a supplier-to-client basis: Rather than being an employee of the hospitals themselves, you would be an employee of the company that has won the contract to supply these services to them, and the hospitals would be your clients. As a result of this, we need someone who is experienced in meeting contractual requirements in this kind of situation.

THE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Consequently, the experience required for this role is as follows:

• A BICSc qualification such as COPC or HPCC
• A minimum of 5 years experience in the MANAGEMENT of cleaning services/housekeeping
• A minimum of 3 years prior experience in the healthcare sector
• Financial Management experience
• Computer literate, including experience of MS Office

Please note the above experience is essential – you require all of the above to be eligible for this role.

THE ROLE:

The crux of this role is the provision and management of Housekeeping, Cleaning and Portering services to standards that meet contractual requirements and are within current legislation. This will include full responsibility for the operational management of the Portering and Housekeeping teams. As well as implementing and managing existing operational policies, it will be within your remit to propose changes to practices and procedures within this area.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

This is a challenging role that might suit someone who maybe feels “stuck” in their current position or perhaps sees no further prospects for progression in their present situation. In this role you will be reporting to the Contract Manager. Therefore, for the right person who performs well and makes a success of this role, there is a realistic possibility of moving up into the Contract Manager position in future. This is a hugely successful company that is still expanding and winning new business despite the current economic downturn.
